A TREE HOUSE RETREAT IN HIMACHAL
Escaping to Jibhi: A Treehouse Retreat
There’s something about the mountains that quietly resets your soul, and my recent trip to Jibhi did just that. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, this quaint little village in Himachal Pradesh had been on my list for a while. I finally packed my bags, hit the road from Chandigarh, and ended up spending two magical nights in a treehouse surrounded by pine forests, waterfalls, and the kind of peace that only places like Jibhi can offer.

Drive to Jibhi – Chandigarh to Himachal
I started early in the morning from Chandigarh and the drive took me around 5.5 hours. The route was mostly smooth till Mandi with good roads, but after Mandi, things changed a bit. The roads got narrower and bumpier—nothing alarming, but you do have to drive a little more carefully in that stretch. Be mindful of speed cameras, especially near and around Mandi. They’re easy to miss and you really don’t want a surprise notice after such a relaxing trip.
There are two main ways to reach Jibhi from Chandigarh: one longer route via Shimla and Narkanda, and the other through Mandi, which is the one I took. If you’re short on time and prefer a more direct route, Mandi is your best bet, though the Shimla–Narkanda road is known for its scenic beauty if you’re up for the extra drive.

Staying in a Treehouse – A Dream Come True
One of the highlights of my trip was staying in a cozy treehouse. It was straight out of a storybook—wooden interiors, large windows overlooking thick forests, and the soothing sounds of a nearby stream. At night, the air was chilly and fresh, and I found myself wrapped in a blanket, sipping chai on the balcony, just listening to the rustle of leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl. It was peaceful in a way that cities forget to be.

Exploring Waterfall, Cafes and Sojha Valley
Jibhi is all about slow travel. On the first day, I explored the local waterfall. It's just a short walk from the main village, tucked inside a forest path. The water was freezing, but the view was worth every goosebump.
Later, I wandered into some of the local cafes—each with its own charm. Some had crackling fireplaces, others served piping hot momos and strong coffee. It felt like time didn’t really exist there; people were in no rush, and it was beautiful to just sit and watch the mist roll in from the mountains.
The next day, I drove up to Sojha Valley (also spelled Shoja). The drive itself was scenic, with winding roads and panoramic views that made me stop more than once just to take it all in. Sojha is quieter than Jibhi and gives you even better views of the snow-capped peaks. It's the kind of place where you can hear your thoughts more clearly—or choose not to think at all.

Final Thoughts
Jibhi is not for those looking for glitzy hotels or packed itineraries. It’s for travelers who enjoy sitting still, listening to nature, and feeling disconnected from city chaos. Staying in a treehouse made the experience even more special, giving me a front-row seat to everything Jibhi has to offer—silence, scenery, and soul-soothing simplicity.
If you’re planning a trip soon and looking for a peaceful getaway that doesn’t feel overrun by tourists yet, Jibhi should definitely be on your radar.
